What is a B-BBEE Affidavit?

A B-BBEE Affidavit is a sworn statement confirming your entity's B-BBEE status in terms of the Codes of Good Practice.

It is used by Exempted Micro Enterprises (EMEs) and Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSEs) with an annual turnover below the relevant threshold, instead of a verified B-BBEE certificate.

Who needs a B-BBEE Affidavit?

A B-BBEE Affidavit is applicable to:

Exempted Micro Enterprises (EMEs)

Annual turnover of R10 million or less

Any entity with an annual turnover below the EME threshold (R10 million) can complete an affidavit. There is no minimum Black ownership requirement.

Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSEs)

Annual turnover between R10 million and R50 million

A QSE affidavit can only be completed if the entity has 51% or more Black ownership. If the entity does not have at least 51% Black ownership, a verified B-BBEE certificate is required.

Entities above the QSE threshold are required to obtain a verified B-BBEE certificate from a SANAS-accredited verification agency.
